Playing it up with Texture

I can't tell you how important it is to layer your outfits. Adding different textures allow you to create a new dimension to your look, and will transform you from bland to bold.

In this ensemble, I wanted the focus to be on the blouse. It's a beautiful piece that I absolutely adore (once I get over how annoying it is to iron). As nice as it is, I felt that it would have been a bit much for my day's activities, so I dressed it down with an oversized cardigan and distressed high-waisted shorts.

If you ever happen to see me strolling around, there is a 97% chance that I'll be wearing a cardigan. Not only are cardigans like wearable blankets, they are also great for dressing down a very put together look. Throwing on a slouchy cardigan took away from the blouse's rigidity and made it feel more relaxed. The frays of the distressed shorts allowed for a fun and casual look. Also, white shorts are a fresh twist on the traditional jean shorts.

Individually, these pieces are very different from one another and would normally not be thought to be paired together. However, once you step outside the box you'll be able to put more character into your outfits!
