A Night of Latin Jazz

Last Friday, I had the pleasure of attending an outdoor concert at Houston's Discovery Green. It was a charming venue. Children were blowing bubbles, women were dancing, and couples had cute picnic dates with a bottle of wine. I went with my family and we sprawled out a large blanket on the grass while watching the concert.
April is all about Jazz appreciation and throughout the month Discovery Green hosts the annual Da Camera JAM, a series of free concerts. The other night was focused on Latin Jazz. It featured performances by Jose-Miguel Yamal y los Norfos and Raquel Cepeda with her sextet. I had a wonderful time listening to them perform and watching everyone enjoy themselves. I was properly introduced to jazz this semester through a Listening to Jazz course to fulfill a Creative Arts elective, and could not have been happier with that decision. It's a nice change from my science courses and has allowed me to learn more about something different.
I wore a white off the shoulder tube dress with a beautiful maroon floral embroidery. The dress has a dainty scalloped hem which I thought was a nice touch. Throughout the night, it got cooler so threw on a light blue denim jacket. I completed the look with tan leather slides and simple silver jewelry. It was a cute and simple look, however I wished I wore something with more coverage because it was quite cool and the jacket didn't really cut it.
Cheers,
Danish
