Making Billionaire Moves

My hustle through my first three years of college has paid off, leaving me with only three classes left for my final semester WOOOHOOO! My naive little brain thought that having fewer classes during my last semester would easily secure me a big girl job before graduation. Alas, that is not the case. I haven’t even graduated yet, and it is already proving difficult to get an entry-level job. With only three classes and a very part time job, I am left with too much time on my hands. Once I got tired of watching movies and have applied for everything available on the job boards, I decided to pick up a new hobby- reading.
From childhood up to sophomore year of high school, I was an avid reader. My mom took me to the library and I would fill up an entire milk crate full of books. Not to brag, but I was at a fifth grade reading level when I was in second grade hehe. I guess AP classes and being on the swim team ended up taking up a lot of my time, and when I got into college my schedule became even busier. Now that I am literally bored out of my mind, there is no excuse to not read.
I read in an article that many billionaires take time out of their busy days to read. Many of them also read at least 50 books a year, so I decided that I would try to read at least one book a week. Look at me... working on billionaire habits…
To hold myself accountable, I am going to make a reading list of books I have completed every month. I even made a goodreads account and pledged to read 52 books in 2020. Let’s see if I keep up with this and maybe some of ya’ll can join me in making money moves.
Cheers,
Danish

Supermarket

I’m gonna be honest with y'all, it took me 10 months to finish this book; not because it is a hard read, but because I thought it was boring when I first tried reading it. My boyfriend lent it to me when it first came out and wanted me to read it so we could discuss it together. The first 4 times I picked up the book, I thought the writing was sloppy and Logic was trying too hard, so I never got past 100 pages. The fifth time however, I realized I related a lot to the main character, Flynn. Like Flynn, I am also searching for myself and feel trapped in my own mind full of ideas that I don’t ever see through the end. It took me picking up the book at the right point in my life for me to enjoy it, but now I can say I recommend everyone to read it.

The Help
By: Kathryn Stockett
The Help is one of my favorite books of all time. It is also my favorite book turned movie (not counting the Harry Potter series, of course). Whenever I’m on a long car ride, chilling in the waiting room, or just have spare time, this is the book I carry. I have read this book God knows many times since I was 13 and never get tired of it, so it only made sense to reread it for the sake of my New Year’s resolution. I have picked up a lot from this book, such as finding hope in the midst of tribulations like Aibileen, not being afraid to speak up like Minny, as well as daring to defy social norms like Skeeter. If you read only one book in your life, I hope I can convince you that it should be The Help.

Me Before You
By: Jojo Moyes
By the third week I slowly had a hard time staying focused and making time to read. I picked up a book or two and lost interest before eventually putting it back down again, so I decided to read another book I have enjoyed before. I have read this book at least 3 times now, and everytime feels like the first time. I still laugh and cry through all the right parts. Will reminds me that simply being alive isn’t enough to live. The insightful things he shares with Lou are also lessons that I do my best to apply during my search for fulfillment.

Five Feet Apart
By: Rachael Lippincott with Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis
I discovered this book through an actor that I admire, Justin Baldoni. He directed the movie and shared the stories of his friends with cystic fibrosis. Since he was so passionate about the project and the CFers that the movie is dedicated to, I swore to read the book before watching the movie. Being the procrastinator that I am, it took nearly a year since the movie’s release to finally read the book. I really enjoyed it, and fell in love with all of the characters. I never imagined a story without the typical heated passion found in romance novels to be one of the most romantic things I have read in a long time.
